Areas of Intervention

The Internationalization Projects of SMEs is a financial support system that aims to strengthen the entrepreneurial capacity of SMEs through the development of their qualification processes for an international expansion, enhancing the intangible factors of competitiveness.

Location

Mainland Portugal.

Financing Rate

Non-repayable grant: Maximum rate of 45%.

Elegible Entities

Beneficiaries are SMEs of any nature and under any legal form.
Projects with the following activities are not eligible, according to the CAE:
- Financial and insurance;
- Defence;
- Lotteries and other betting games.

Elegible Cost

Acquisitions for the application of new corporate methods:
- Equipment to the extent that it is used in the project;
- Software related to the development of the project;
- Cost of hiring a maximum of two new technical staff per project, with qualification level equal or higher than 6, insofar as they are used in the project and during its execution;
Participation in fairs and exhibitions abroad:
- Costs of renting space, including services provided by fair promoters organisers, namely those related to water and electricity consumption, communications, publishing in the fair brochure and translation/interpreting services;
- Stand construction costs, including services associated with the design, construction and assembly of exhibition spaces, namely equipment and furniture rental, transportation and handling of displays, materials and other promotional supports;
- Stand operating costs, including travel and accommodation services for company representatives and other representation expenses, as well as the hiring of translators/interpreters from outside the fair organization;
Specialized consultancy services, provided by external consultants, related to:
- Prospecting and attracting new clients, including importer missions to get to know the beneficiary’s offer;
- Promotion actions carried out in external markets, namely press advisory services, public relations, market consultancy and technical assistance for the preparation of events;
- Marketing campaigns in foreign markets, including hiring services in the areas of mailing and telemarketing, advertising and specialized media;
- Costs related to the intervention of licensed accountants or certified public accountants, in the validation of expenses of payment requests up to the limit of 5.000 euro per project;
- Technical assistance, studies, diagnostics and audits;
- Costs with the certifying body and with tests and trials in accredited laboratories;
- Design and registration costs associated to the creation of new brands or collections;
- Initial costs associated with the hosting of applications, initial adherence to electronic platforms, initial subscription of applications in “software as a service” schemes, creation and initial publication of new electronic content, as well as the inclusion or listing in directories or search engines;
- Obtaining, validating and defending patents and other industrial property registration costs.
